Saint Joseph's College Health Information Management Program Receives CAHIIM Accreditation
The Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management at Saint Joseph's College is now accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). The Saint Joseph's College online program is only the second BSHIM degree in New England to earn the CAHIM accreditation distinction and is the only accredited BSHIM degree offered in Northern New England.

By meeting the CAHIM standards, successful graduates of the BSHIM program will be eligible to apply and test for the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential.  The RHIA credential signifies that an individual is an expert in managing patient health information and medical records, collecting and analyzing patient data and using classification systems and medical terminologies. Individuals with the RHIA credential are in high demand in New England and other parts of the country.

Global Health Expert John Halamka, MD, Joins Orion Health BOD
Orion Health, a global provider of healthcare information technology, recently announced that John Halamka, MD, MS, has joined the company as an independent director. Halamka is the International Healthcare Innovation professor at Harvard Medical School, where he has served in both Republican and Democratic presidential administrations and advised national governments throughout the world on healthcare technology. He is also the chief information officer at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) and chairman of the New England Healthcare Exchange Network (NEHEN), as well as a practicing emergency physician.

In his role at BIDMC, Halamka is responsible for all clinical, financial, administrative and academic information technology, serving 3,000 doctors, 12,000 employees and one million patients. As chairman of NEHEN, Halamka oversees clinical and administrative data exchanges amongst insurers, healthcare providers and patients in Massachusetts.

Children's Health's Pamela Arora Named CIO of the Year
Pamela Arora, senior vice president and CIO of Children's Health, has been named the 2016 John E. Gall, Jr. CIO of the Year. The award, sponsored by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and HIMSS, recognizes healthcare IT executives who have made significant contributions to their organization and demonstrated innovative leadership through effective use of technology.

Under Arora's leadership, Children's Health has bolstered information sharing by hosting electronic medical records for physician practices and other providers, and has also forged strong partnerships with regional health information exchange programs. Extending care beyond the hospital walls, an ever-expanding telemedicine program enables nurses at nearly 100 schools to conduct virtual consultations with hospital-based clinicians. Arora has also demonstrated a tremendous commitment to advancing the role of the CIO and other health IT leaders and has served on both the CHIME and HITRUST board of trustees.

Auxilio Acquires Healthcare IT Security Solutions Leader, CynergisTek
Auxilio, Inc., a provider of complete document workflow solutions and IT security services for the healthcare industry, recently announced that it acquired Austin, Texas based CynergisTek, an industry leader in health information privacy, compliance and cybersecurity consulting. The acquisition will enable the company to meet growing demand from healthcare customers for comprehensive IT security solutions that reduce risk and deliver long-term value.

CynergisTek will continue to operate independently as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Auxilio, offering end-to-end IT security solutions to a diverse and growing customer base. PatientLink Enterprises Wins First Place in the ONC's Consumer Health Data Aggregator Challenge
PatientLink, an innovative software development company, was recently chosen as the first place winner in the The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC)'s Consumer Health Data Aggregator Challenge for their new patient engagement application, MyLinks. The Consumer Health Data Aggregator Challenge was intended to spur the development of third-party, consumer-facing applications that use open, standardized APIs to help consumers store their data in one place and under their control.

MyLinks is a cloud-based platform which allows patients to electronically gather their medical records using Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) and to securely communicate with their doctors, researchers and others using Direct messaging, a method for sending bidirectional, encrypted health information. MyLinks is PatientLink's new product line focused on meeting consumer's needs, changing the way patients manage their health and health records.

WellDoc and American Association of Diabetes Educators Announce Partnership
Digital health technology company WellDoc and diabetes healthcare organization, the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE), recently announced they will partner to incorporate the "AADE Diabetes Education Curriculum: A Guide to Successful Self-Management" in the BlueStar digital therapeutic platform. BlueStar is an FDA-cleared digital therapeutic used to help adults living with type 2 diabetes self-manage their condition.

The curriculum, built around the AADE7 Self-Care Behaviors, focuses on the seven primary areas of self-management: Healthy Eating, Being Active, Monitoring, Taking Medication, Problem Solving, Reducing Risks and Healthy Coping. As part of this partnership, AADE and WellDoc will explore how to collectively engage AADE's members. The organizations will also look to jointly develop new strategies that bring innovative tools to diabetes education and intervention through digital health channels.
