After sitting in sessions and exploring exhibits all day, attendees got to let loose at night, whether hitting up hot spots like the Pike Place fish market or attending one of AHIMA's organized functions.
On Sunday night, Kforce sponsored a well-attended welcome reception in the Grand Ballroom of the Seattle Sheraton Hotel. Attendees caught up with friends and shared hopes for the convention as they wined and dined on cheese, crackers and crudités.
Graduates from colleges near and far, including Seattle University, Indiana University and University of Pittsburgh, gathered at alumni receptions on Monday night. Professors, alumni and students mingled amid music and light fare and discussed hot topics in HIM.
The biggest bash, however, was the President's Premier Celebration, sponsored by QuadraMed, on Tuesday night. With its freeform architecture, mirror ceilings and groovy vibe to boot, Seattle's Experience Music Project served as the ideal setting for the '60s and '70s themed soiree.
Ever the enthusiastic attendees, HIM professionals donned tie-dye, sunglasses and Afros to channel the evening's theme, then headed to the dance floor to bust a move. Type A, a live funk band complete with trumpet, bass guitar and trombone, kept attendees singing and the party pumping. From the moment party-goers entered the building, crowd-pleasers like "Oh Yes, It's Ladies' Night" echoed throughout the EMP's multiple wings. And just in case the black lights and glow-in-the-dark cups weren't enough to set the mood, Jimi Hendrix and a member of Kiss were on hand to make sure even the wallflowers felt the beat.
After working up an appetite, attendees headed to the buffet, which featured tasty tidbits like cinnamon and clove spiced chicken skewers, BBQ meatballs and vegetarian pot-stickers. As attendees boogied late into the night, they dubbed the party a psychedelic thumbs up.
