On Nov. 5, the HIM department at Maine Medical Center, Portland, ME, celebrate its win as ADVANCE's 2009 HIM Team of the Year. The Department Celebration, sponsored by ADVANCE, included two rounds of catered dinners to cover the day shift and evening shifts. Even remote staff members were able to join the fun.
The menu consisted of shrimp cocktail, honey baked scallops, rosemary scented pork roast, steamed fresh vegetables, roasted baby potatoes, broccoli/bacon/raisin salad and cake. For staff members, the spread added a tasty touch to an already enjoyable HI&T Week.
Team members were also treated to several prizes from ADVANCE, including personalized certificates, ADVANCE pens and free copies of the October Team of the Year issue. The HIM department also earned a framed cover photo and plaque to commemorate their win. Deb Heald, administrative coordinator II, said the items will be prominently displayed. "We are so appreciative of the award and all that it stands for," she said. "It is a good feeling to be recognized for the work we do at Maine Medical Center."
