We caught up with Susan Lucci, RHIT, CMT, AHDI-F, AHDI president, and Nick van Terheyden, MD, chief medical officer, M*Modal, after an early morning session about the Health Story Project. They explained the project's mission, what's next on the agenda and how MTs can play a major role.

After watching the video, read our April 2009 cover story and Web article for more on the Health Story Project.

The Health Story Project provides value to the healthcare system by enabling advanced medical documentation to facilities and hospitals, supplemental to the EMR. Both offer choice and flexibility in dictation style to compliment the physician’s workflow pattern.

It is rewarding to see collaborative efforts within the industry backing this critical initiative.

Even though I am only a student and live in Canada, I believe strongly that the only way that we, as Transcriptionists, need companies like M*Modal to create technical ways that we can be a part of Obama's EHR campaign. The Health Story Project seems to be the answer and I, for one, plan to take part, if I can, here in Canada. I know that there is a possibility that when I graduate, I could be working for a US company. So, it would only make sense to take part.
